Intrusive Thoughts

When we feel overwhelmed with Unwanted Thoughts- To not deal with it properly, hurts our relationship with ourselves. So, how can we deal with Intrusive Thoughts? We all have them at various times in our Mindscape. The following acronyms will serve to assist us in this crucial endeavor:

 C.A.M.P. I. L.E.A.R.N.:
C-CONTINUE
doing whatever you were doing prior to the intrusive thought
A-ACCEPT the thoughts into your mind.
M-Know that thoughts are MEANINGLESS
P-Know that thoughts are POWERLESS
I-Don’t be INTERESTED in passing thoughts
L-LEAVE the thoughts alone
E-EXPECT the thoughts to come back again
A-ALLOW the thoughts into your mind.
R-REMIND yourself that these thoughts are automatic & not up to you.
N-Learn a NEW relationship with your thoughts to reduce your sensitivity to them.
 

Thoughts do not BELONG to you. Don’t be a P.I.N. H.E.A.D.:
P- Why do you PERSIST on giving your attention to lingering thoughts?
I- Why do you bear the burden of IDENTIFYING with them?
N- You are NOT your thoughts. You are not your Mind.
H- Why do you HOUSE the false belief that this disturbance is yours?
E- Why do you ERRONONEOUSLY continue to entertain that which is meaningless?
A- Why do you ACT as though you ‘own’ these unwanted thoughts?
D- Why are you posing as a DOER? You didn’t invent these Unwanted Thoughts.
