GRIT & MAGNANIMITY!
At the 2019 5,000-Meter World Championships, Braima Suncar Dabo, a runner from Guinea-Bissau (a tropical country on West Africa’s Atlantic coast) stopped in the middle of a race to help a struggling exhausted rival competitor, (Jonathan Busby, from Aruba). The gut-wrenching pic above shows both competitors staggering around the last turn and over the finish line to ROARING APPLAUSE! Afterwards, Busby collapsed onto the track and was placed in a wheelchair by medical staff.
COMMENTARY:
“In life, winning and losing will both happen. What is never acceptable is quitting.” -Magic Johnson
“HOW a person wins and loses is much more important than how MUCH a person wins and loses.” -Tom Krause
P.S. There are 2 HEROES HERE: The Contending Competitor who uncharacteristically stops to help his opponent, forfeits glory, & extends noble generosity AND the Fallen Competitor who defiantly refuses to quit, displaying a tenacious unyielding perseverance. Indeed, BOTH are CHAMPIONS! Truly, on that day, BOTH competitors showed their HEART (their true characters) and irrefutably scored their greatest victory.
B.P.S. The actual winner of the race became just another name listed in the record books but the STEEL these two warriors demonstrated- reverberate throughout the annuals of time. Truly, GRIT & MAGNANIMITY were on FULL DISPLAY that day! Both deserve a standing ovation & an ETERNAL APPLAUSE …From the Lookout Post.
